The word Cascabel means "Rattle" in Spanish. The seeds of this chile (Capsicum Annuum) separate from the pod and rattle around the inside of the dried chile. Cascabel Chiles are dark reddish brown with a shiny, smooth, thick skin. The skins folds in a bit when dried, but this is not a wrinkled chile. The Cascabel is round and 1-1/2 inches in diameter. This chile is a 4 on the heat scale.Scoville units 1,000 - 2,500
Suggested Use:
Cascabel Chiles are medium hot. Use in sauces, stews and soups. It's ideal for adding a hint of heat. The skin does not dissolve easily, so we recommend removing the chiles when the desired hotness is achieved.

Basic Prep:
Rinse product first with warm water. soak in hot water for 10 minutes to rehydrate or add directly to recipe that will cook at least 10 minutes. Once rehydrated, dice or puree and add to a recipe.
